  • Acquesi

    In 1895, the Italian oenologist Federico Martinotti, from the Province of Asti, invented the world famous method for sparkling wine based on controlled fermentation in large vats. 20 miles away and a little over 50 years later, Acquesi was founded in Acqui Terme, Piedmont in 1952. Acquesi with its iconic, Liberty Style design, dating back to the early 1900s from the city of Turin, Italy. Its unforgettable floral pattern symbolises this period’s elegance and joy.

    The Cortese di Gavi grape is a native variety from 1630, which grows only in Alessandria in Piedmont of Italy and used to make GAVI wine. In 1998 it won one of the most sought-after international acknowledgements when it was awarded DOCG controlled and guaranteed designation of origin certification. The flavour of Cortese is harmonious, fresh, pleasant, lively in the mouth.

The name Acquesi refers to the small town of Acqui Terme where the winery is based – in the Belle Epoque era it was renowned for its Liberty style architecture (the Italian version of Art Nouveau), and its ideals of elegance, joy and ornamental detail, and this is reflected in the beautiful, intricate design of the etched bottles, which are an absolute show-stopper. The winery is focused solely on the production of top quality sparkling wines and is one of Italy’s most awarded and celebrated sparkling producers.
